The Roman Catholic Church, according to the General Roman Calendar, celebrates the following in Saturday, 2017-04-29:

  • St. Catherine of Siena, virgin and doctor of the Church 2017:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    1 John 1:5--2:2

    15This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him is no darkness at all. 6If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not live according to the truth;7but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin. 8If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.21My little children, I am writing this to you so that you may not sin;but if any one does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;2and he is the expiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 103:1-4, 8-9, 13-14, 17-18

    1Bless the LORD, O my soul;and all that is within me, bless his holy name! 2Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, 4who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, 8The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger for ever. 13As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear him. 14For he knows our frame;he remembers that we are dust. 17But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, 18to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

    SECOND LECTURE OF THE MASS

    John 12:44-50

    44And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. 45And he who sees me sees him who sent me. 46I have come as light into the world, that whoever believes in me may not remain in darkness. 47If any one hears my sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him;for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. 48He who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has a judge;the word that I have spoken will be his judge on the last day. 49For I have not spoken on my own authority;the Father who sent me has himself given me commandment what to say and what to speak. 50And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has bidden me."

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Matthew 11:25-30

    25At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes;26yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. 27All things have been delivered to me by my Father;and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

  • SATURDAY SECOND WEEK OF EASTER 2017:

    Easter Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Acts 6:1-7

    As the number of disciples continued to grow,
    the Hellenists complained against the Hebrews
    because their widows
    were being neglected in the daily distribution.
    So the Twelve called together the community of the disciples and said,
    "It is not right for us to neglect the word of God to serve at table.
    Brothers, select from among you seven reputable men,
    filled with the Spirit and wisdom,
    whom we shall appoint to this task,
    whereas we shall devote ourselves to prayer
    and to the ministry of the word."
    The proposal was acceptable to the whole community,
    so they chose Stephen, a man filled with faith and the Holy Spirit,
    also Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas,
    and Nicholas of Antioch, a convert to Judaism.
    They presented these men to the Apostles
    who prayed and laid hands on them.
    The word of God continued to spread,
    and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly;
    even a large group of priests were becoming obedient to the faith.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Ps 33:1-2, 4-5, 18-19

    R. (22) Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
    Exult, you just, in the LORD;
    praise from the upright is fitting.
    Give thanks to the LORD on the harp;
    with the ten-stringed lyre chant his praises.
    R. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
    Upright is the word of the LORD,
    and all his works are trustworthy.
    He loves justice and right;
    of the kindness of the LORD the earth is full.
    R. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
    See, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him,
    upon those who hope for his kindness,
    To deliver them from death
    and preserve them in spite of famine.
    R. Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Jn 6:16-21

    When it was evening, the disciples of Jesus went down to the sea,
    embarked in a boat, and went across the sea to Capernaum.
    It had already grown dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.
    The sea was stirred up because a strong wind was blowing.
    When they had rowed about three or four miles,
    they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat,
    and they began to be afraid.
    But he said to them, "It is I. Do not be afraid."
    They wanted to take him into the boat,
    but the boat immediately arrived at the shore
    to which they were heading.
