The Roman Catholic Church, according to the General Roman Calendar, celebrates the following in Friday, 2019-10-04:

  • Saint Francis of Assisi (Solemnity) 2019:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Sirach 50:1, 3-4, 6-7

    1The leader of his brethren and the pride of his people was Simon the high priest, son of Onias, who in his life repaired the house, and in his time fortified the temple. 3In his days a cistern for water was quarried out, a reservoir like the sea in circumference. 4He considered how to save his people from ruin, and fortified the city to withstand a seige. 6Like the morning star among the clouds, like the moon when it is full;7like the sun shining upon the temple of the Most High, and like the rainbow gleaming in glorious clouds;

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 16:1-2, 5, 7-8, 11

    1Preserve me, O God, for in thee I take refuge. 2I say to the LORD, "Thou art my Lord;I have no good apart from thee." 5The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup;thou holdest my lot. 7I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;in the night also my heart instructs me. 8I keep the LORD always before me;because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. 11Thou dost show me the path of life;in thy presence there is fulness of joy, in thy right hand are pleasures for evermore.

    SECOND LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Galatians 6:14-18

    14But far be it from me to glory except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16Peace and mercy be upon all who walk by this rule, upon the Israel of God. 17Henceforth let no man trouble me;for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. 18The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Matthew 11:25-30

    25At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes;26yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. 27All things have been delivered to me by my Father;and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. 28Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me;for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

  • FRIDAY TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME 2019:

    Ordinary Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Bar 1:15-22

    During the Babylonian captivity, the exiles prayed:
    “Justice is with the Lord, our God;
    and we today are flushed with shame,
    we men of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem,
    that we, with our kings and rulers
    and priests and prophets, and with our ancestors,
    have sinned in the Lord’s sight and disobeyed him.
    We have neither heeded the voice of the Lord, our God,
    nor followed the precepts which the Lord set before us.
    From the time the Lord led our ancestors out of the land of Egypt
    until the present day,
    we have been disobedient to the Lord, our God,
    and only too ready to disregard his voice.
    And the evils and the curse that the Lord enjoined upon Moses, his servant,
    at the time he led our ancestors forth from the land of Egypt
    to give us the land flowing with milk and honey,
    cling to us even today.
    For we did not heed the voice of the Lord, our God,
    in all the words of the prophets whom he sent us,
    but each one of us went off
    after the devices of his own wicked heart,
    served other gods,
    and did evil in the sight of the Lord, our God.”

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    PS 79:1b-2, 3-5, 8, 9

    R. (9) For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
    O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;
    they have defiled your holy temple,
    they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
    They have given the corpses of your servants
    as food to the birds of heaven,
    the flesh of your faithful ones to the beasts of the earth.
    R. For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
    They have poured out their blood like water
    round about Jerusalem,
    and there is no one to bury them.
    We have become the reproach of our neighbors,
    the scorn and derision of those around us.
    O LORD, how long? Will you be angry forever?
    Will your jealousy burn like fire?
    R. For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
    Remember not against us the iniquities of the past;
    may your compassion quickly come to us,
    for we are brought very low.
    R. For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
    Help us, O God our savior,
    because of the glory of your name;
    Deliver us and pardon our sins
    for your name’s sake.
    R. For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Lk 10:13-16

    Jesus said to them,
    "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
    For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
    had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
    they would long ago have repented,
    sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
    But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
    at the judgment than for you.
    And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven?
    You will go down to the netherworld.'
    Whoever listens to you listens to me.
    Whoever rejects you rejects me.
    And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."
