International Days February 20 2017 (United Nations)

The following is an overview of the days and the corresponding celebration declared by the United Nations that apply to Monday, 2017-02-20:

  • World Day of Social Justice:

    World Day of Social Justice is a day intended to recognize the need to promote efforts to tackle issues such as poverty, exclusion and unemployment. In 2009, the United Nations General Assembly designated February 20th as the World Day of Social Justice.
  • Presidents’ Day:

    [floating] Staff at all United Nations duty stations, including the United Nations Headquarters, are to observe Presidents’ Day as holiday.

Notes:

[floating] A 'floating' holiday. An employee at the United Nations may or may not choose to take this day as a holiday. Starting in 2016, the United Nations staff will no longer have 10 official holidays. There will be nine official holidays and each employee will be able to choose one of seven floating holidays as a 10th holiday.
