Brasília Anniversary: [brasilia] The city of Brasilia, capital of Brazil, celebrates 55 years on April 21, 2015.The city began to be planned and developed in 1956 by Lúcio Costa and by architect Oscar Niemeyer, with structural calculations by engineer Joaquim Cardoso. Brasilia was inaugurated on April 21, 1960, by President Juscelino Kubitschek becoming the third capital of Brazil, after Salvador and Rio de Janeiro. Due to its architectural and urban armonizacion, the city is considered World Heritage Site by UNESCO.This day coincides with the national holiday of Tiradentes.
