  • Saint Matthias the Apostle 2024:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Acts 1:15-17, 20-26

15In those days Peter stood up among the brethren (the company of persons was in all about a hundred and twenty), and said, 16"Brethren, the scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David, concerning Judas who was guide to those who arrested Jesus. 17For he was numbered among us, and was allotted his share in this ministry. 20For it is written in the book of Psalms, `Let his habitation become desolate, and let there be no one to live in it'; and `His office let another take.' 21So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us -- one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection." 23And they put forward two, Joseph called Barsab'bas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthi'as. 24And they prayed and said, "Lord, who knowest the hearts of all men, show which one of these two thou hast chosen 25to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas turned aside, to go to his own place." 26And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthi'as; and he was enrolled with the eleven apostles.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 113:1-8

1Praise the LORD! Praise, O servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD! 2Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore! 3From the rising of the sun to its setting the name of the LORD is to be praised! 4The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens! 5Who is like the LORD our God, who is seated on high, 6who looks far down upon the heavens and the earth? 7He raises the poor from the dust, and lifts the needy from the ash heap, 8to make them sit with princes, with the princes of his people.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    John 15:9-17

9As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you; abide in my love. 10If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. 11These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. 12"This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you. 16You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide; so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you. 17This I command you, to love one another.

  • TUESDAY SEVENTH WEEK OF EASTER 2024:

    Easter Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Acts 20:17-27

From Miletus Paul had the presbyters
of the Church at Ephesus summoned.
When they came to him, he addressed them,
“You know how I lived among you
the whole time from the day I first came to the province of Asia.
I served the Lord with all humility
and with the tears and trials that came to me
because of the plots of the Jews,
and I did not at all shrink from telling you
    what was for your benefit,
or from teaching you in public or in your homes.
I earnestly bore witness for both Jews and Greeks
to repentance before God and to faith in our Lord Jesus.
But now, compelled by the Spirit, I am going to Jerusalem.
What will happen to me there I do not know,
except that in one city after another
the Holy Spirit has been warning me
that imprisonment and hardships await me.
Yet I consider life of no importance to me,
if only I may finish my course
and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus,
to bear witness to the Gospel of God’s grace.

“But now I know that none of you
to whom I preached the kingdom during my travels
will ever see my face again.
And so I solemnly declare to you this day
that I am not responsible for the blood of any of you,
for I did not shrink from proclaiming to you the entire plan of God.”

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalm 68:10-11, 20-21

    R. (33a) Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
    A bountiful rain you showered down, O God, upon your inheritance;
    you restored the land when it languished;
    Your flock settled in it;
in your goodness, O God, you provided it for the needy.
    R. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
Blessed day by day be the Lord,
who bears our burdens; God, who is our salvation.
    God is a saving God for us;
the LORD, my Lord, controls the passageways of death.
    R. Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.

    Gospel Acclamation

    John 14:16

    R. Alleluia, alleluia.
    I will ask the Father
and he will give you another Advocate
    to be with you always.
    R. Alleluia, alleluia.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    John 17:1-11a

Jesus raised his eyes to heaven and said,
    “Father, the hour has come.
Give glory to your son, so that your son may glorify you,
just as you gave him authority over all people,
so that your son may give eternal life to all you gave him.
    Now this is eternal life,
that they should know you, the only true God,
and the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.
    I glorified you on earth
by accomplishing the work that you gave me to do.
Now glorify me, Father, with you,
with the glory that I had with you before the world began.

“I revealed your name to those whom you gave me out of the world.
They belonged to you, and you gave them to me,
and they have kept your word.
Now they know that everything you gave me is from you,
because the words you gave to me I have given to them,
and they accepted them and truly understood that I came from you,
and they have believed that you sent me.
    I pray for them.
I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me,
because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours
and everything of yours is mine,
and I have been glorified in them.
And now I will no longer be in the world,
but they are in the world, while I am coming to you.”
