  • Easter Sunday:

Easter falls on a spring Sunday that varies from year to year. Easter is recognized as a flag day but has not been a federal holiday due to falling always on a Sunday, which is a non-working day for federal and state employees. However, many companies, including banks, malls, shopping centers and most private retail stores that normally open on Sundays are closed on Easter. Easter is a Christian holiday celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. For Christians, Easter is a day of religious services and the gathering of family. Many Americans follow old traditions of coloring hard-boiled eggs and giving children baskets of candy.

Medical marijuana is now legal in 20 states and the District of Columbia. There are several efforts going on by supporters to make this day an official day.
