  • National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day:

[fed-ob] (a) Designation.— July 27 of each year until 2003 is National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. (b) Proclamation.— The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation calling on— (1) the people of the United States to observe National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day with appropriate ceremonies and activities;and (2) all departments, agencies, and instrumentalities of the United States Government, and interested organizations, groups, and individuals, to fly the flag of the United States at halfstaff on July 27 of each year until 2003 in honor of the individuals who died as a result of their service in Korea.
  • National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day:

[pro] The twenty-seventh of July is designated as "National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day"to remember ordinary men and women who showed extraordinary courage through 3 long years of war, fighting far from home to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met. According to the Presidential Proclamation,
Throughout history, the United States has stood as a powerful force for freedom and democracy around the world. In the face of tyranny and oppression, generations of patriots have fought to secure peace and prosperity far from home. And in 1950, as Communist armies crossed the 38th parallel just 5 years after the end of World War II, courageous Americans deployed overseas once again to stand with a people they had never met in defense of a cause in which they both believed. On National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day, we honor all those who sacrificed for freedom's cause throughout 3 long years of war, and we reaffirm our commitment to the security of the Republic of Korea and the values that unite our nations.
  • Korean War Veterans’ Day:

[oh-sp] The twenty-seventh of July is designated as "Korean War Veterans' Day," in honor of those who fought, died, or are still unaccounted for in the Korean war.

[fed-ob] United States federal observances are days, weeks, months, or other periods designated by the United States Congress for the commemoration or other observance of various events, activities, or topics. These observances differ from Federal holidays in that Federal employees only receive a day free from work on holidays, not observances. Federal observances that are designated by Congress appear in Title 36 of the United States Code (36 U.S.C. § 101 et seq.).

[pro] This is a special day designated by presidential proclamation.

[oh-sp] This is a special day, week or month by Statutory Designation in the State of Ohio.
