Fastest speed skating [long track] 2 x 500 m (male)

According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest ISU 2 x 500 m by a male skater as recognized by the International Skating Union is 1 minute 8.31 seconds by Jeremy Wotherspoon (Canada), on 15 March 2008 at the Olympic Oval in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He completed his first 500 m race in 34.26 seconds, and his second in 34.05 seconds.According to ISU rules, skaters can only qualify for the 2 x 500 m record “only from competitions where the final result of the 500 m is determined by the total time after 2 races”. Therefore aggregate times for individual 500 m races at the same event (e.g. Pavel Kulizhnikov’s 1 minute 8.11 seconds on 13–15 November 2015, and again on 22–22 November 2015) do not meet the criteria for world record status.
