Oldest person to climb a mountain over 8,000 m

According to Official Guinness Records,

The oldest man to climb a mountain over 8,000 m is Yuichiro Miura (Japan, b. 12 October 1932), who reached the summit of Everest on 23 May 2013 at the age of 80 years 223 days.Yuchiro Miura is therefore not only the oldest man to climb the Everest but the oldest man to climb any mountain over 8,000 m.During his descent, as he reached the Advanced Base Camp at around the 6,500-m mark, Miura suffered extreme exhaustion and was lifted off the mountain by helicopter. Miura’s team also feared an increased avalanche risk below this point, further justifying the airlift. This led some mountaineering purists to question the validity of the record, claiming that successful climbs must be up and down the mountain;Miura’s supporters, however, defended his climb, stating that, irrespective of the descent, the octogenarian had reached the peak under his own power, thereby achieving the record.
