  • Our Lady of Fatima 2017:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Acts 17:15, 22--18:1

1715Those who conducted Paul brought him as far as Athens;and receiving a command for Silas and Timothy to come to him as soon as possible, they departed. 22So Paul, standing in the middle of the Are-op'agus, said: "Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious. 23For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription, `To an unknown god.' What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth, does not live in shrines made by man, 25nor is he served by human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all men life and breath and everything. 26And he made from one every nation of men to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their habitation, 27that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after him and find him. Yet he is not far from each one of us, 28for `In him we live and move and have our being';as even some of your poets have said, `For we are indeed his offspring.' 29Being then God's offspring, we ought not to think that the Deity is like gold, or silver, or stone, a representation by the art and imagination of man. 30The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all men everywhere to repent, 31because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given assurance to all men by raising him from the dead." 32Now when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked;but others said, "We will hear you again about this." 33So Paul went out from among them. 34But some men joined him and believed, among them Dionys'ius the Are-op'agite and a woman named Dam'aris and others with them.181After this he left Athens and went to Corinth.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 148:1-2, 11-14

1Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the heights! 2Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his host! 11Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! 12Young men and maidens together, old men and children! 13Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted;his glory is above earth and heaven. 14He has raised up a horn for his people, praise for all his saints, for the people of Israel who are near to him. Praise the LORD!

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    John 16:12-15

12"I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth;for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15All that the Father has is mine;therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

  • SATURDAY FOURTH WEEK OF EASTER 2017:

    Easter Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Acts 13:44-52

    On the following sabbath
    almost the whole city
gathered to hear the word of the Lord.
When the Jews saw the crowds, they were filled with jealousy
and with violent abuse contradicted what Paul said.
Both Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly and said,
“It was necessary that the word of God be spoken to you first,
    but since you reject it
and condemn yourselves as unworthy of eternal life,
we now turn to the Gentiles.
For so the Lord has commanded us,
I have made you a light to the Gentiles,
that you may be an instrument of salvation
to the ends of the earth.”

The Gentiles were delighted when they heard this
and glorified the word of the Lord.
All who were destined for eternal life came to believe,
and the word of the Lord continued to spread
    through the whole region.
The Jews, however, incited the women of prominence who were worshipers
and the leading men of the city,
stirred up a persecution against Paul and Barnabas,
and expelled them from their territory.
So they shook the dust from their feet in protest against them
    and went to Iconium.
The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    PS 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4

    R. (3cd) All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
Sing to the LORD a new song,
    for he has done wondrous deeds;
His right hand has won victory for him,
    his holy arm.
    R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
The LORD has made his salvation known:
in the sight of the nations he has revealed his justice.
He has remembered his kindness and his faithfulness
    toward the house of Israel.
    R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.
All the ends of the earth have seen
    the salvation by our God.
    Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands;
    break into song;sing praise.
    R. All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God.
    or:
    R. Alleluia.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Jn 14:7-14

    Jesus said to his disciples:
“If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
    Philip said to Jesus,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.”
