The Roman Catholic Church, according to the General Roman Calendar, celebrates the following in Wednesday, 2026-03-25:

  • The Annunciation of the Lord 2026:

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Isaiah 7:10-14; 8:10

    710Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz, 11"Ask a sign of the LORD your God; let it be deep as Sheol or high as heaven." 12But Ahaz said, "I will not ask, and I will not put the LORD to the test." 13And he said, "Hear then, O house of David! Is it too little for you to weary men, that you weary my God also? 14Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Imman'u-el. 810Take counsel together, but it will come to nought; speak a word, but it will not stand, for God is with us.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 40:7-11

    6Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire; but thou hast given me an open ear. Burnt offering and sin offering thou hast not required. 7Then I said, "Lo, I come; in the roll of the book it is written of me;8I delight to do thy will, O my God; thy law is within my heart." 9I have told the glad news of deliverance in the great congregation; lo, I have not restrained my lips, as thou knowest, O LORD. 10I have not hid thy saving help within my heart, I have spoken of thy faithfulness and thy salvation; I have not concealed thy steadfast love and thy faithfulness from the great congregation.

    SECOND LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Hebrews 10:4-10

    4For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.5Consequently, when Christ came into the world, he said, "Sacrifices and offerings thou hast not desired, but a body hast thou prepared for me;6in burnt offerings and sin offerings thou hast taken no pleasure.7Then I said, `Lo, I have come to do thy will, O God, 'as it is written of me in the roll of the book."8When he said above, "Thou hast neither desired nor taken pleasure in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings" (these are offered according to the law),9then he added, "Lo, I have come to do thy will." He abolishes the first in order to establish the second.10And by that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Luke 1:26-38

    26In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28And he came to her and said, "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you!"29But she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered in her mind what sort of greeting this might be. 30And the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. 31And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. 32He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there will be no end." 34And Mary said to the angel, "How shall this be, since I have no husband?" 35And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God. 36And behold, your kinswoman Elizabeth in her old age has also conceived a son; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. 37For with God nothing will be impossible." 38And Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." And the angel departed from her.

  • WEDNESDAY FIFTH WEEK OF LENT 2026:

    Time of Lent.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    dn 3:14-20, 91-92, 95

    King Nebuchadnezzar said:
    “Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
    that you will not serve my god,
    or worship the golden statue that I set up?
    Be ready now to fall down and worship the statue I had made,
    whenever you hear the sound of the trumpet,
    flute, lyre, harp, psaltery, bagpipe,
    and all the other musical instruments;
    otherwise, you shall be instantly cast into the white-hot furnace;
    and who is the God who can deliver you out of my hands?”
    Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered King Nebuchadnezzar,
    “There is no need for us to defend ourselves before you
    in this matter.
    If our God, whom we serve,
    can save us from the white-hot furnace
    and from your hands, O king, may he save us!
    But even if he will not, know, O king,
    that we will not serve your god
    or worship the golden statue that you set up.”

    King Nebuchadnezzar’s face became livid with utter rage
    against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.
    He ordered the furnace to be heated seven times more than usual
    and had some of the strongest men in his army
    bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego
    and cast them into the white-hot furnace.

    Nebuchadnezzar rose in haste and asked his nobles,
    “Did we not cast three men bound into the fire?”
    “Assuredly, O king,” they answered.
    “But,” he replied, “I see four men unfettered and unhurt,
    walking in the fire, and the fourth looks like a son of God.”
    Nebuchadnezzar exclaimed,
    “Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,
    who sent his angel to deliver the servants who trusted in him;
    they disobeyed the royal command and yielded their bodies
    rather than serve or worship any god
    except their own God.”

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Dn 3:52, 53, 54, 55, 56

    R. (52b) Glory and praise for ever!
    “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of our fathers,
    praiseworthy and exalted above all forever;
    And blessed is your holy and glorious name,
    praiseworthy and exalted above all for all ages.”
    R. Glory and praise for ever!
    “Blessed are you in the temple of your holy glory,
    praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.
    R. Glory and praise for ever!
    “Blessed are you on the throne of your kingdom,
    praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.”
    R. Glory and praise for ever!
    “Blessed are you who look into the depths
    from your throne upon the cherubim;
    praiseworthy and exalted above all forever.”
    R. Glory and praise for ever!
    “Blessed are you in the firmament of heaven,
    praiseworthy and glorious forever.”
    R. Glory and praise for ever!

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    jn 8:31-42

    Jesus said to those Jews who believed in him,
    “If you remain in my word, you will truly be my disciples,
    and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
    They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham
    and have never been enslaved to anyone.
    How can you say, ‘You will become free’?”
    Jesus answered them, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
    everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
    A slave does not remain in a household forever,
    but a son always remains.
    So if the Son frees you, then you will truly be free.
    I know that you are descendants of Abraham.
    But you are trying to kill me,
    because my word has no room among you.
    I tell you what I have seen in the Father’s presence;
    then do what you have heard from the Father.”

    They answered and said to him, “Our father is Abraham.”
    Jesus said to them, “If you were Abraham’s children,
    you would be doing the works of Abraham.
    But now you are trying to kill me,
    a man who has told you the truth that I heard from God;
    Abraham did not do this.
    You are doing the works of your father!”
    So they said to him, “We were not born of fornication.
    We have one Father, God.”
    Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me,
    for I came from God and am here;
    I did not come on my own, but he sent me.”
