International Days October 13 2022 (United Nations)

The following is an overview of the days and the corresponding celebration declared by the United Nations that apply to Thursday, 2022-10-13:

  • International Day for Disaster Reduction:

    The International Day for Disaster Reduction (IDDR) encourages every citizen and government to take part in building more disaster resilient communities and nations. Originally celebrated on the second Wednesday of October (by resolution 44/236, 22 December 1989), the UN General Assembly decided to designate October 13th as the date to celebrate the IDDR (resolution 64/200, 21 December 2009).
  • World Sight Day:

    [WHOSPN] Held every year on the second Thursday in October, World Sight Day is an annual day of awareness to focus global attention on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired. The Day is observed around the world and is the main advocacy event for the prevention of blindness and for "Vision 2020: The Right to Sight", a global effort to prevent blindness created by WHO and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.
