Is March 28 2021 Part Of A Jewish Celebration?

The following is a collection of holidays, commemorations, observations and celebrations for the Jewish community during Sunday, 2021-03-28. For more information on the equivalence of dates in the Hebrew calendar and other calendars, please see Hebrew Calendar 5781.

  • Passover:

    [yom-tov][Shalosh-Regalim]
    • On the Hebrew Calendar the celebration starts on 15th of Nissan.
    • Celebration in Israel starts on 15th of Nissan and lasts 7 days.
    • Celebration outside of Israel starts on 15th of Nissan and lasts 8 days.

Passover, also called Pesach, is celebrated on the 15th of Nissan in the Hebrew calendar. This is an important Biblically-derived Jewish festival. The Jewish people celebrate Passover as a commemoration of their liberation over 3,300 years ago by God from slavery in ancient Egypt that was ruled by the Pharaohs, and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses. It commemorates the story of the Exodus as described in the Hebrew Bible especially in the Book of Exodus, in which the Israelites were freed from slavery in Egypt.

Notes:

[yom-tov] This day is yom tov, so it has similar obligations and restrictions to Shabbat in the sense that normal work (melacha) is forbidden.

[Shalosh-Regalim] Pilgrimage to the Temple in Jerusalem.
