The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Sunday, 2023-10-15:

  • White Cane Safety Day:

[fed-ob] The President may issue each year a proclamation designating October 15 as White Cane Safety Day.
  • National Forest Products Week - Day 1:

[fed-ob] This year National Forest Products Week starts on Sunday, October 15 2023 and ends on Saturday, October 21 2023. To recognize the importance of products from our forests, the Congress, by Public Law 86-753 (36 U.S.C. 123), as amended, has designated the week beginning on the third Sunday in October of each year as "National Forest Products Week" and has authorized and requested the President to issue a proclamation in observance of this week each year.
  • Blind Americans Equality Day:

[pro] This day is an apportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of the blind and visually impaired citizens, and to commit to building a Nation where all people, including those who are blind or visually impaired, live with the assurance of equal opportunity and equal respect. According to the Presidential Proclamation,
Blind and visually impaired individuals make extraordinary contributions to our Nation, and their achievements reflect an enduring belief at the heart of America's promise: that no person's potential should be limited by anything other than the scope of their dreams. On Blind Americans Equality Day, we recommit to making good on this promise by ensuring all our people, including those living with visual impairments or other print disabilities, have the tools and resources they need to realize their greatest aspirations.
  • National Latino AIDS Awareness Day:

[nhas] The Latino Commission on AIDS, the Hispanic Federation and many other organizations organize this day. According to the official notes,
National Latino AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD) is a national community mobilization and social marketing campaign that unites the Hispanic/Latino community in efforts to raise awareness, prevention and education of HIV, Viral Hepatitis, Sexually Transmitted Infections and Tuberculosis.

Notes:

[fed-ob] United States federal observances are days, weeks, months, or other periods designated by the United States Congress for the commemoration or other observance of various events, activities, or topics. These observances differ from Federal holidays in that Federal employees only receive a day free from work on holidays, not observances. Federal observances that are designated by Congress appear in Title 36 of the United States Code (36 U.S.C. § 101 et seq.).

[pro] This is a special day designated by presidential proclamation.

[nhas] Part of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy Awareness Days.
