According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest crossing of the English channel by a coxed team of rowers is 2 hr 41 min 45 sec, by Victor Evans, Andrew Byrant, Stephen Tupper, Lee Stampton and cox Joshua Stevenson (all UK) from Dover Rowing Club, Dover, UK on 19 September 2005.
They rowed from Shakespeare Beach, Dover to Sangatte, France. Good claim with maps and GPS tracking
