The fastest run 1,500 metres by a female athlete is 3 minutes 50.07 seconds achieved by Genzebe Dibaba (Ethiopia) during the IAAF Diamond League meeting at the Stade Louis II in Fontvieille, Monaco, on 17 July 2015.The previous record had stood for over 22 years.
