Fastest run 1,500 metres (male)

According to Official Guinness Records,

Hicham El Guerrouj (Morocco) won the 1,500 metres event at the IAAF Golden League Golden Gala in Rome, Italy, in a time of 3 minutes 26 seconds on 14 July 1998. He beat the existing record by more than a second.As of 2017, El Guerrouj also retained four other world record times: over one mile (indoors and outdoors) 2,000 metres (outdoors) and 1,500 metres (indoors).
