Fastest swim long course 400 metres freestyle (male)

According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest long course 400 m freestyle by a male swimmer is 3 minutes 40.07 seconds, by Paul Biedermann (Germany) at the FINA World Championships in Rome, Italy, on 26 July 2009. Two days later, he would go on to swim the fastest-ever 200 m freestyle at the same championships.
