Fastest swim long course 400 metres medley (male)

According to Official Guinness Records,

Michael Phelps (USA) won gold in the men’s 400 metres medley at the 2008 Beijing Olympics in 4 minutes 3.84 seconds on 10 August 2008. He took more than a second off his own world record of 4 minutes 5.25 seconds, recorded at the US Olympic trials on 29 June 2008. It was the eighth time Phelps had set a new best in the event.The 400 m individual medley (IM) comprises four 100 m legs swum using a different stroke: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle (in that order).
