First actor to break the $1 million threshold

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first actor to break the $1 million threshold was Marlon Brando (USA), who was paid $1.25 million (£400,500) – equivalent today to $8.8 million;£6.1 million – for his starring role as Fletcher Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty (USA, 1962). With his small part as Jor--El in Superman (1978), he also broke the $3 million mark;he also negotiated a share of the profits, thereby earning $14 million ($46 million or £32 million today) for just 10 minutes of screen time.
