First aeroplane hop

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first hop by a manned aeroplane entirely under its own power was made when Clément Ader (1841-1925) of France flew in his Éole for about 50 m (164 ft) at Armainvilliers, France on 9 Oct 1890. It was powered by a lightweight steam engine of his own design, which developed about 15 kW (20-hp), but the flight was neither sustained nor controlled.
