First astronaut killed in flight during training

According to Official Guinness Records,

Theodore (Ted) Freeman (USA) was killed on 31 October 1964 while flying a T-38 trainer aircraft. The collision of his vehicle with a goose caused both engines to flame out and, while attempting an emergency landing away from buildings at Ellington Air Force Base, Freeman ejected too close to the ground to survive.
