First detection of galactic radio waves

According to Official Guinness Records,

Radio waves from the Milky Way were first detected by Karl Jansky of Bell Telephone Laboratories, Holmdel, New Jersey, USA in 1931 when he was investigating static with an improvised 30.5m 100ft aerial.
