First Private Eye TV series

According to Official Guinness Records,

Running from 1949-54 the US series Martin Kane, Private Eye (NBC) was the first private-eye show proper. Previous examples had featured investigators in short dramatised segments as part of various guess-the-ending panel shows. In its five-year run four different actors played Martin Kane: William Gargan, Lloyd Nolan, Lee Tracy and Mark Stevens. The character (and series) had first appeared on radio.
