First trial at International Criminal Court

According to Official Guinness Records,

On 26 January 2009, the first trial at the ICC commenced when the Congolese warlord, Thomas Lubanga, appeared on war crimes charges for his role in the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He faced charges of using children as weapons of war for his Union of Congolese Patriots, and recruiting and commanding a militia that committed atrocities. He is accused of seizing children as young as ten and forcing them to fight and die for his militia.
