Greatest rainfall in 24 hours

According to Official Guinness Records,

A record 1,870 mm (73 in) of rain fell in 24 hours in Cilaos (altitude: 1,200 m;3,940 ft), Reunion, Indian Ocean on 15–16 March 1952. This is equal to 7,554 tonnes of rain per acre.
