According to Official Guinness Records,

The largest asteroid is 1 Ceres (the first discovered, by G. Piazzi at Palermo, Sicily on 1 January 1801), with an average diameter of 941 km (584.7 miles). As of 2017, it is now considered a "dwarf planet".
