Largest baseball contract - catcher

According to Official Guinness Records,

Joe Mauer (USA) signed a contract with the Minnesota Twins (USA) which will earn him a total of $184 million (£120.2 million) over eight years on 22 May 2010.
Mauer attended high school in St. Paul, Minnesota, and was selected by his hometown Twins with the No. 1 pick in the 2001 amateur entry draft. Mauer signed his record-breaking contract with the same pen he used to sign his very first contract with the Twins. Mauer's deal is not only the largest ever for a catcher but the fourth-largest overall contract in Major League Baseball history.
