According to Official Guinness Records,

The greatest number of species spotted in a 24 hour period is 342 by Terry Stevenson (Kenya), John Fanshawe (Kenya) and Andy Roberts (Kenya) on day two of the Birdwatch Kenya 86 event held on 29–30 Nov 1986
