Largest donation to a single university

According to Official Guinness Records,

The greatest donation to a single university is $250 million (£176 million) to the University of Colorado by the chairman and co-founder of software manufacturer BEA Systems, Bill Coleman and his wife Claudia in January 2001. The money will set up the Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities intended to develop technology to help those with autism, Down Syndrome and other similar conditions. The record donation was inspired by Coleman's mentally disabled niece.
