Largest eSports prize pool for a single tournament
According to Official Guinness Records,
Held at the Seattle Center's KeyArena in Washington, USA, on 2–12 August 2017, Valve's seventh annual Dota 2 championship, The International, boasted a prize-pool of $24,787,916 to distribute among its winners and finalists. It was the fifth year running that the tournament had smashed the record for largest prize in eSports. As with previous years, the prize-pool was part funded by sales of the MOBA's latest Battle Pass, a gaming bundle that featured a new co-op campaign, new team quests, fantasy player cards and various other goodies. European team Team Liquid walked away with the tournament's first prize of $10,862,683 – the largest first prize in eSports – having defeated China's Newbee in the final.
