The largest Yowla dance was achieved by 285 participants from three different tribes within Fujairah (UAE), as part of the Fujairah Crown Prince Award and Al Saif traditional sword competition, at Fujairah Fort, Fujairah, UAE on 26 November 2010. The Yowla dance was the final event of the day as there were stalls and activities set up as a way of celebrating and raising awareness for the history and culture of Fujairah. Fujairah is part of the United Arab Emirates and has a rich history and many traditions, with one being that of the Yowla dance. Many men have been doing this dance since they were little boys, which also includes several sword throws and dances involving sticks or rifles. This traditional dance was performed infront of a crowd of spectators for Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad, The Crown Prince of Fujairah. It was essential to the Crown Prince that people from all over the world are made aware and recognise the traditions and beauty that lies within the culture of Fujairah and hopes that the Yowla dance will show people that the history of this hidden beauty within the Emirates should not be forgotten.
