Longest running TV soap opera

According to Official Guinness Records,

It was announced in 2009 that As the World Turns (CBS, 1956–) would be cancelled by September 2010, meaning that the UK’s Coronation Street (ITV, 9 December 1960–) would become the world’s longest-running soap opera. Actor William Roache (UK) would then become the longest-serving soap actor, having debuted as Ken Barlow in episode 1. The last episode of As the World Turns aired on 17 September 2010 on CBS.
