South Korean boy bands BIGBANG and EXO have both collected five "daesang" awards (Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year) at the annual Mnet Asia Music Awards. BIGBANG won Song of the Year in 2007 ("Lies") and 2015 ("Bang Bang Bang") and Artist of the Year in 2008, 2012 and 2015. EXO matched their rivals' haul of daesang awards after landing the Album of the Year prize for the fourth year in a row at the 2016 ceremony, held at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong on 2 December. In addition to trophies for their albums XOXO (2013), Overdose (2014), EXODUS (2015) and EX'ACT (2016), EXO also bagged Artist of the Year in 2014.The "daesang" awards have been presented since 2006. Mnet is a South Korean music channel owned by the entertainment and media company CJ E&M. BIGBANG, who have won more Artist of the Year prizes (3) than any other K-pop act, have additionally received four Album of the Year nominations (2007, 2011–12 and 2015), one Song of the Year nomination (2008) and two Artist of the Year nominations (2007 and 2011). BIGBANG are one of only a handful of K-pop (Korean pop) acts to top Billboard's World Digital Songs chart, and in May 2015 they held the No.1 and No.2 spots simultaneously with "Loser" and "Bae Bae". Additionally, they were the first K-pop act to reach the top 10 of the iTunes chart in the US (with the 2011 EP "Tonight").
