According to Official Guinness Records,

John Mazzafer (USA, b. 5 October 1917) was aged 84 years 277 days when he had a toncillectomy, removing both his tonsils at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA on 9 July 2002.
