Oldest woman to swim the English Channel

According to Official Guinness Records,

The oldest woman to swim the English Channel is Pat Gallant-Charette (USA, b. 2 February 1951), who, aged 66 years 135 days, crossed from England to France in 17 hours 55 minutes on 17 June 2017. The record was set under the auspices of the Channel Swimming Association. This was Pat's second successful English Channel swim and her record came just four weeks after successfully swimming the Molokai Channel in Hawaii, USA, on 20 May 2017, when she became the oldest woman to do so aged 66 years 107 days. Remarkably, and in addition to achieving three records in 2017 (on 30 August 2017, Pat became the oldest person to successfully swim Lake Ontario, in a time of 24 hours 28 minutes 19, aged 66 years 209 days), Pat had already set a string of records in her quest to become the oldest person – and woman – to swim the Oceans Seven, the open water swimming community's equivalent of the Seven Summits, which requires swimming the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland, the Cook Strait between the North and South Islands of New Zealand, the Molokai Channel between Oahu and Molokai Islands in Hawaii, the English Channel between England and France, the Catalina Channel between Catalina Island and the Southern California mainland, the Tsugaru Channel between the islands of Honshu and Hokkaido in Japan and the Strait of Gibraltar between Europe and Africa. Pat became the oldest woman to swim the Catalina Channel in California, USA, on 18 October 2011 aged 60 years 258 days (a title she held for five years), the Tsugaru Strait in Japan on 13 September 2012 aged 61 years 224 days and the North Channel between Northern Ireland and Scotland on 24 August 2016 aged 65 years 204 days. She also swam the Strait of Gibraltar on 16 June 2010 aged 59 years 134 days – although she was not the oldest woman to do so. Her final swim challenge to complete the Ocean's Seven is the Cook Strait in New Zealand, scheduled for 2019.Pat also continues to pursue the Still Water Eight – eight marathon swims in lakes around the world including Loch Ness (Scotland), 23 miles/37 km, Windemere (England), 10.5 miles/16.9 km, Lake Zürich (Switzerland), 16.4 miles/26.4 km, Lake Tahoe (USA), 21 miles/35.4 km, Lake Baikal (Russia), 7–10 miles/11–16 km, Lake Taupo (New Zealand), 21 miles/34 km, Lake Ontario (Canada), 31.5 miles/51 km and Lake Titicaca (Bolivia–Peru).
