    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Hosea 2:16-17, 21-22

    16"And in that day, says the LORD, you will call me, `My husband,' and no longer will you call me, `My Ba'al.' 17For I will remove the names of the Ba'als from her mouth, and they shall be mentioned by name no more. 21"And in that day, says the LORD, I will answer the heavens and they shall answer the earth;22and the earth shall answer the grain, the wine, and the oil, and they shall answer Jezreel;

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 45:11-12, 14-17

10Hear, O daughter, consider, and incline your ear;forget your people and your father's house;11and the king will desire your beauty. Since he is your lord, bow to him;13with all kinds of wealth. The princess is decked in her chamber with gold-woven robes;14in many-colored robes she is led to the king, with her virgin companions, her escort, in her train. 15With joy and gladness they are led along as they enter the palace of the king. 16Instead of your fathers shall be your sons;you will make them princes in all the earth.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Matthew 25:1-13

1"Then the kingdom of heaven shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. 2Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. 3For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them;4but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. 5As the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6But at midnight there was a cry, `Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.' 7Then all those maidens rose and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said to the wise, `Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' 9But the wise replied, `Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you;go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast;and the door was shut. 11Afterward the other maidens came also, saying, `Lord, lord, open to us.' 12But he replied, `Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' 13Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

  • OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE 2020:

    Last Sunday in Ordinary Time.

    FIRST LECTURE OF THE MASS

    Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17

11"For thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep, and will seek them out. 12As a shepherd seeks out his flock when some of his sheep have been scattered abroad, so will I seek out my sheep;and I will rescue them from all places where they have been scattered on a day of clouds and thick darkness. 15I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I will make them lie down, says the Lord GOD.16I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed, and I will bind up the crippled, and I will strengthen the weak, and the fat and the strong I will watch over;I will feed them in justice. 17"As for you, my flock, thus says the Lord GOD: Behold, I judge between sheep and sheep, rams and he-goats.

    RESPONSORIAL PSALM

    Psalms 23:1-3, 5-6

1The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want;2he makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters;3he restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 5Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies;thou anointest my head with oil, my cup overflows. 6Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

    SECOND LECTURE OF THE MASS

    1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28

20But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. 21For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 24Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 28When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things under him, that God may be everything to every one.

    GOSPEL OF THE MASS

    Matthew 25:31-46

31"When the Son of man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate them one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, 33and he will place the sheep at his right hand, but the goats at the left. 34Then the King will say to those at his right hand, `Come, O blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;35for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' 37Then the righteous will answer him, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry and feed thee, or thirsty and give thee drink? 38And when did we see thee a stranger and welcome thee, or naked and clothe thee? 39And when did we see thee sick or in prison and visit thee?' 40And the King will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.' 41Then he will say to those at his left hand, `Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels;42for I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.' 44Then they also will answer, `Lord, when did we see thee hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to thee?' 45Then he will answer them, `Truly, I say to you, as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.' 46And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life."
