The following is an overview of the days and the corresponding celebration declared by the United Nations that apply to Tuesday, 2022-11-08:

  • International Week of Science and Peace - Day 3:

International Week of Science and Peace was first observed in 1986 and because of its success it was formally designated as such by the United Nations General Assembly in 1988. The International Week of Science and Peace takes place each year on the week in which 11 November falls. The objectives of this week are the promotion of international peace and human rights, the protection of the environment and the awareness on the roll of science and technology in maintaining the world peace and social development.
  • Gurpurab:

[floating] With the interest of respecting the diversity of United Nations staff members, resolution 62/250 designates Gurpurab as a floating holiday. Gurpurab is a feast that celebrates the birthday of the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak. This is one of the most sacred festivals in Sikhism.

Notes:

[floating] A 'floating' holiday. An employee at the United Nations may or may not choose to take this day as a holiday. Starting in 2016, the United Nations staff will no longer have 10 official holidays. There will be nine official holidays and each employee will be able to choose one of seven floating holidays as a 10th holiday.
