US Holiday On April 14 2022?

The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Thursday, 2022-04-14:

  • National D.A.R.E. Day:

[pro] Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) is an international education program founded by Daryl F. Gates that seeks to prevent use of controlled drugs, membership in gangs, and violent behavior. Students who enter the program sign a pledge not to use drugs or join gangs and are taught by local police officers about the dangers of drug use in an interactive in-school curriculum which lasts ten weeks.
  • Pan American Day:

[pro] Pan American Day is a holiday observed by several countries in North and South America. It commemorates the First International Conference of American States which concluded on April 14, 1890, creating the International Union of American Republics, the forerunner to the Organization of American States (OAS). The holiday was originally proposed by the organization in 1930, and was first observed on April 14, 1931.
  • Pan American Week - Day 5:

[pro] The entire week on which the Pan American Day falls is observed as Pan American Week.
  • National Volunteer Week - Day 5:

[pro] The second week of April each year is designated as National Volunteer Week. This week serves as a means to promote and show appreciation for volunteerism in the United States. Communities across the United States have celebrated National Volunteer Week since 1974, when President Nixon signed an executive order establishing the second week of April as an annual celebration of volunteering. Since then, every U.S. president has signed a proclamation promoting National Volunteer Week. According to the presidential proclamation (2016),
Each day, humble people of every background and belief come together to fulfill the timeless responsibility we have as Americans: to accept certain obligations to one another. People of all ages can volunteer, and anyone can, through the smallest of acts, do their part to improve the lives of others. This week, we celebrate the selfless individuals around our country who channel their civic virtues through volunteerism, and we encourage more people to make service an integral part of their lives.

Notes:

[pro] This is a special day designated by presidential proclamation.
