US Holiday On September 27 2020?

The following is a compilation of American federal holidays, federal observances, state holidays and other common patriotic and national observances and commemorations that apply to the United States during Sunday, 2020-09-27:

  • Gold Star Mother's Day:

[fed-ob] (a) Designation.— The last Sunday in September is Gold Star Mother’s Day. (b) Proclamation.— The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling on United States Government officials to display the flag of the United States on all Government buildings, and the people of the United States to display the flag and hold appropriate meetings at homes, churches, or other suitable places, on Gold Star Mother’s Day as a public expression of the love, sorrow, and reverence of the people for mothers who lost sons or daughters in the war.
  • Parent’s Week:

[oh-sp] The fourth week of September is designated as "Parent's Week" to commend and encourage the work of parents in supporting and caring for their children.
  • National Gay Men's HIV/AIDS Awareness Day:

[nhas] In 2008 the National Association of People with AIDS (now closed) launched this observance day to recognize the disproportionate impact of the epidemic on gay men.

    Notes:

[fed-ob] United States federal observances are days, weeks, months, or other periods designated by the United States Congress for the commemoration or other observance of various events, activities, or topics. These observances differ from Federal holidays in that Federal employees only receive a day free from work on holidays, not observances. Federal observances that are designated by Congress appear in Title 36 of the United States Code (36 U.S.C. § 101 et seq.).

[oh-sp] This is a special day, week or month by Statutory Designation in the State of Ohio.

[nhas] Part of the National HIV/AIDS Strategy Awareness Days.
