According to Official Guinness Records,
Bekele’s final 1,500m of the race was clocked unofficially at 3 minutes 52 seconds, which matched Paavo Nurmi’s world record time (3:52.6) for that distance in 1924. He ran the last 400 m in just 57 seconds. As of Feb 2018, Bekele is still the IAAF record-holder in three events: the indoor and outdoor 5,000 m and the outdoor 10,000 m.
