According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest indoor 800 m run by a male athlete is 1 minute 42.67 seconds, by Wilson Kipketer (Denmark, b. Kenya) in the 800 m final of the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Paris, France, on 9 March 1997. He improved upon his own record time of 1:43.96, set in the heats two days previous.
