According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest one kilometre run backwards is 3 min 22.04 sec, and was achieved by Aaron Yoder (USA), at the Linsborg/ Bethany College Track, in Linsborg, Kansas, USA, on 21 June 2017. Aaron has a dream to break all of the Guinness World Records titles for backwards running.
