According to Official Guinness Records,

The fastest time to reach 1,000 runs in a cricket One Day Internationals career is 21 innings, first achieved by Viv Richards (West Indies) between 7 June 1975 and 22 January 1980, then later matched by Kevin Pietersen (England) between 28 November 2004 and 31 March 2006, and most recently matched by Jonathan Trott (England) between 27 August 2009 and 2 March 2011.
