First evidence of evolution without DNA

According to Official Guinness Records,

In January 2010 scientists at the Scripps Research Institute reported they had witnessed evidence of evolution occurring in the lifeless, DNA-less proteins known as prions. They exhibited signs of adapting to new environments and following the rules of natural selection.
Prions are associated with 20 different diseases of the brain in humans and animals.
