First unsigned band to reach the Top 40 on the UK singles chart

According to Official Guinness Records,

The first unsigned band to reach the Top 40 on the UK singles chart is Koopa (UK) whose download-only single, Blag, Steal & Borrow debuted at number 31 on 14 January 2007. The start of 2007 saw changes to the compilation of the UK chart entries, allowing digital downloads to count towards the total.
