First webcam

According to Official Guinness Records,

Computer scientists at Cambridge University, UK, were so frustrated with trekking down the corridor only to find that the coffee pot was empty, that they rigged up a camera and a computer so that anyone in the department could instantly see if there was any coffee left. In late November 1993 Daniel Gordon hooked up the camera to the world wide web, where live images of the now famous coffee pot were made available for all internet users to view. The Trojan Room Coffee machine was finally switched off at 0954 UTC on Wednesday, 22 August 2001.
