Largest collection of flower related items (single species)
According to Official Guinness Records,
The largest collection of flower related items (single species) consists of 2,754 Edelweiss related items, achieved by Alexandru and Cristian Dan Bartoc (both Romania), as verified in Bucharest, Romania, on 28 September 2017.The flower depicted on this collection is the Edelweiss (Leopoldonium alpinum). In 1928, when the Nation’s Heroes Cross on Caraiman Peak (Romania) was inaugurated, Alexandru's father, Frantz Bartok, started collecting objects that had the Edelweiss Flower ("Floarea Reginei" in Romanian) as a motif. The collection was born from the love for this beautiful and everlasting flower, which grows on the plateau of the Caraiman Peak, part of the Carpathians, at over 2000 m (6561.67 ft ) of altitude. In 1930, thanks to the group of volunteers who built this cross, which Frantz belonged to, a law protecting the Edelweiss flower was established. After Frantz Bartok's death, his son and grandson, Alexandru and Cristian, continued to acquire Edelweiss related items from all around the world. The purpose of this collection is to raise awareness of the Edelweiss flower and further promote its protection.
