The largest collection of souvenir plates is 621 plates and belongs to the Kundin family (Russia). The family started the collection in Moscow, Russia, and continued it in Stamford, Connecticut, USA. The feat was verified on 1 October 2012. The collection began in 1990 when Alexander Kundin bought his first souvenir plate as a student on a trip to Prague. Since then the collection has turned into a family hobby, with Alexander’s wife, Irene, and two sons, Andrew and Michael, also contributing to the collection. The family moved to the USA in 1994 and continue to travel the world, collecting plates everywhere they go. They have souvenir plates from 120 countries in 5 different continents, including plates from Easter Island, Papua New Guinea and North Korea. The family say there is a story behind every plate and hope to publish a book about the collection.
