According to Official Guinness Records,
The largest collection of wind up toys is 1,042 toys and belongs to William Keuntje (USA), in Landing, New Jersey, USA, as of 26 November 2011. The collection began with a Christmas present in 1975 and has grown tremendously over the years, thanks in part to donations and gifts from friends and family. To celebrate his world record attempt, William hosted an event at his home entitled ‘Wind It Up’, which featured a wind up toy quiz. The prize for the winner was, of course, a wind up toy.
